HOUSEHOLD FIELD NOTES

See what happens before you change the routine.

Pick one of three kitchen routines and keep a record while you do it. Each protocol gives you a starting point, a blank CSV, and clear limits on what a short household observation can tell you. The observations and results come from you, not CrispSum.

Your observationsYou run the routine and write down what happens.
Empty to startThe downloads contain fields, with no results filled in.
Keep it in scopeA short household record describes that session only.
PROTOCOL LIBRARY

Choose something you can watch as it happens.

Begin with the routine you already use. Leave the shelves, labels, and shopping plan alone until you have recorded the starting point, unless safety or product guidance calls for immediate action.

01
One normal reset, usually 20-30 minutes

Refrigerator reset observation

Follow one normal refrigerator reset, noting what slows it down, which decisions get made, and what still needs attention next time.

Observe
Record one ordinary refrigerator reset from start to finish, including problems with identity, visibility, meal plans, and the shopping list.
Repeat
Repeat on the same point in the shopping cycle when useful
Open protocol
02
15-25 minutes for setup, trials, and review

Freezer inventory retrieval test

Try a few real freezer searches and note where the inventory, zones, labels, or blocked packages get in the way.

Observe
Use real lookup tasks to record wrong zones, unreadable labels, packages moved, and mismatches between the inventory and the freezer.
Repeat
Repeat only after a defined inventory or layout change

03
Seven days plus a 20-minute review

One-week food waste record

Record disposal events for seven ordinary days, then identify one repeated reason and one small change to observe next.

Observe
Record what the household discards, why it was discarded, and what was happening at the time, then choose one small change to watch during a later week.
Repeat
Repeat after testing one defined household change

WHAT COUNTS AS A FIELD NOTE

Keep the notes useful.

  1. Write down the starting point.

Note the scope and anything unusual before you change the routine.

  2. Record what you can see.

Leave unknowns and unfinished trials in the notes rather than filling the gaps.

  3. Stay within the record.

Use it to describe what happened, with the limits shown in each protocol.

  4. Change one thing next.

Set a comparable follow-up and wait for that record before judging the change.
